While I read your blog, I had to laugh… You write exactly the way you talk !

I consider myself a good judge of character and I’ve met a few over the years; when I met you in Victoria in those early triathlon years I knew you were very different…a good different. I was left with the impression that no matter what, you would always be a winner and everyone would be that much better off for knowing you. I still believe that and thank you for being you, warts and all.

Onward and upward !

PS . Fatherhood is the best and the hardest race of your life, but so worth it !

Jasper, we don’t know each other but we shared a course at IMC in ’06 when you won (I finished 7 hours after you did! LOL). Thanks for sharing your thoughts and insights. People care about other people’s shit when they can relate to it, or if it helps them understand their own shit. I found this statement to be quite profound: “However I do believe when your intentions are clear and you are of a positive mind you will start making clearer choices to reflect that intention and start seeing things around you that will support it.” All the best in your “retirement.”

Thank You – one of the best reads – ever… I was in that 2006 IMC race you won. It was very hot – a sufferfest. I was amazed at how hungry/strong and fast you looked on the run…. It’s an image that I still conjure up when I’m running. If you’re ever in Ottawa – flip us and email. There’s a great group/community here to train with.

Thanks for filling in the past 30 minutes in my work day with this blog post. After reading it, I kind of feel bad beating you in that Moochie Mile back in 2003. In the end, I know that you were proud of me on that day and we grew closer together. I don’t think you would change this as well. I guess I’ll take the Moochie Mile and you are an Ironman Canada Champ, good trade I think! So what’s next?

What a great read Jasper, You have put as much effort and thought into looking into your own motivation, trials and ego as you have put into your life of training and races. It is not surprising to me that you have some OCD qualities. And, by the way, I often have a sink full of dishes if you need more training opportunities. You gave me a few AHA moments to consider about what makes us tick. Very insightful musings. I know that you will do well in whatever life brings you now, you are already a winner.
